A classic BMW 5 Series E60 520d with the M47 engine appeared on the Dynomax / Dynomet dynamometer – a unit that, despite its age, still offers great potential for safe tuning.
After individually modifying the Bosch EDC16C31 controller in the Stage 1 version, we obtained 201 HP and 427 Nm , while maintaining the full operational smoothness and durability of the unit.

Modification process – diagnostics, reading, tuning
Before we started the modification, we performed detailed diagnostics and baseline measurements.
The EDC16C31 controller was read in OBD mode and then analyzed for:

torque maps,

boost pressure map,

fuel dose and torque limiter maps,

thermal protection and smoke limiters.
Based on this, we developed an individual Stage 1 file , optimized for the factory conditions of the engine.
The whole thing was tested and confirmed on Dynomax and Dynomet dynamometers.
File preparation time: 30–40 minutes .
The end result – increased power and torque

Is Stage 1 in M47 safe?
Yes – the file was developed within the factory limits of the turbocharger and accessories. We do not exceed EGT or transmission torque limits.
Can DPF / EGR be turned off?
Yes – we also offer versions with DPF OFF / EGR OFF , maintaining full functionality of the other systems.
Does fuel consumption change after tuning?
When driving calmly, fuel consumption drops by approximately 0.3–0.5 l/100 km thanks to higher torque at low revs.
