BMW E46 330xd 3.0 M57N (EDC16C1 / SW O_07V9A2 / 361860) – Stage 1 – +55 HP / +166 Nm
Share
The M57N 3.0d engine installed in the BMW E46 330xd is a design with huge potential for modification.
Thanks to precise tuning of the Bosch EDC16C1 software, it is possible to safely increase performance while maintaining the full smoothness and durability of the xDrive drive system.
EDC16C1 Controller – A Robust Calibration Platform
The Bosch EDC16C1 controller, available in 4x4 versions, allows for precise control of injection torque and pressure, which allows for strong but smooth gains.
SW version O_07V9A2 (361860) was individually developed taking into account logs and measurement data from the Dynoroad dynamometer.
During the modification process the following was performed:
-
💻 reading and writing ECU in bench mode,
-
🧠 analysis of logs and injection corrections,
-
⚙️ individual calibration of torque, fuel dose, boost and EGT limits,
-
📈 final test on the dynamometer, confirming the stability of the gains.
Effects after Stage 1 modification
| Parameter | In series | After modification | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power (hp) | 204 hp | 259 hp | +55 hp |
| Torque (Nm) | 410 Nm | 576 Nm | +166 Nm |
After the modification, the engine gained significantly better throttle response, a stronger mid-range rev range and smoother acceleration.
Torque is available earlier and spreads more broadly, resulting in a more enjoyable, flexible drive – even in automatic mode or with a full load.
Characteristics after Stage 1
-
⚡ significantly stronger torque in the range of 1800–3500 rpm,
-
🚗 smooth operation of the xDrive drive without jerks,
-
🔧 stable boost pressure and AFR control within safe limits,
-
🧭 no DTC errors, full diagnostics preserved,
-
⛽ when maintaining a reasonable driving style – fuel consumption can be reduced by 0.4–0.5 l/100 km.
This is an example of a clean, correct Stage 1 , prepared safely and in accordance with the real capabilities of the M57N unit.
ECU file processing process
The software was developed manually based on the original ECU file ( SW O_07V9A2 / 361860 ) – without the use of drivers and ready-made presets.
The following was performed, among others:
-
calibration of torque, boost and dose limiters,
-
SOI and rail pressure correction for full responsiveness,
-
EGT and AFR map optimization,
-
data validation after saving the ECU.
Each stage has been verified by measurements, which guarantees the repeatability of the effect in similar configurations.
For tuners and workshops – EDC16C1 file processing
For B2B partners, we offer professional processing of ECU files for BMW M57 / M57N engines:
-
💾 Stage 1 / Stage 2 / ECO / Custom ,
-
⚙️ Files developed individually for a specific SW/HW,
-
🧠 log analysis and technical advice,
-
⏱️ execution time: 30–40 minutes ,
-
📊 Dynomax / Dynomet dynamometer tests.
Each file is created while maintaining OEM safety limits – safe for the engine, turbo and gearbox.
