The 1.6 EcoBoost engine is one of Ford's most successful petrol units – dynamic, modern and very susceptible to software modifications.
In the 150 HP version, the same engine is also available in more powerful variants, which means its potential can be safely unleashed through a precise ECU remap .
In this project we worked on the Bosch MED17.0 (SW 026091) controller, preparing a custom Stage 1 file that provided an impressive increase in power and torque while maintaining full engine safety.

Thanks to the refined Stage 1 file , the car gained immediate throttle response, significantly better acceleration and flexibility in the mid-range of revs.
On the highway, the Focus handles much more lively, while retaining the refinement and economy of the EcoBoost unit.
ECU Modification Process – MED17.0 / SW 026091
The Bosch MED17.0 controller used in the 1.6 EcoBoost engine offers extensive calibration options, but requires high precision in ignition and boost pressure mapping.
That's why every modification we make is based on real data from dynamometer measurements and log analyses.
Scope of work:

🔍 Initial diagnostics – error check, AFR, EGT and boost logs.

💻 Reading ECU MED17.0 using bench / OBD method.

⚙️ Development of an individual Stage 1 file – optimization of fuel, ignition, torque and turbine pressure maps.

📈 Final measurement on the Dynomax / Dynomet dynamometer.
Thanks to this, we achieved an increase of +58 HP and +88 Nm completely safely – while maintaining exhaust gas temperatures and factory limits for the turbine and gearbox.
