Chip tuning Opel Insignia 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI – Stage 1 – 223 HP
Share
Our workshop received an Opel Insignia 2.0 BiTurbo with a stock output of 195 hp. This twin-turbo engine has enormous potential, but the factory software limits torque and throttle response.
After safely modifying the Bosch EDC17CP47 controller, we achieved 223 hp and a torque increase of +40 Nm. The car retains its smooth operation, and torque remains stable throughout the entire rev range.
Customer's car - initial state
-
Model: Opel Insignia 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI
-
Engine: 2.0 BiTurbo Diesel (195 HP / 400 Nm standard)
-
ECU: Bosch EDC17CP47

Drive / gearbox: automatic / FWD
-
Technical condition: engine without errors, supercharging system and DPF fully functional
-
Customer goal: smoother acceleration and greater flexibility on the road, while maintaining low fuel consumption
Modification process – diagnostics, reading, tuning
Before we started work, we performed detailed diagnostics and analysis of dynamic logs.
The Bosch EDC17CP47 controller was read via OBD, then the torque maps, fuel dose, boost pressure and torque limit maps for both turbochargers were analyzed.
On this basis, we developed an individual Stage 1 file , prepared for the real operating conditions of this unit.
The scope of modifications included:
-
optimization of torque and boost pressure maps,
-
tuning the fuel dose for a more complete Nm characteristic,
-
maintaining safe exhaust gas temperature limits (EGT < 820 °C),
-
full DPF / EGR compatibility.
The modification was confirmed by measurements on Dynomax and Dynomet dynamometers.
The entire process – from reading to final tuning – took about 30–40 minutes .
The end result – increased power and torque
| Parameter | In series | After modification | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power (hp) | 195 hp | 223 hp | +28 hp |
| Torque (Nm) | 400 Nm | 440 Nm | +40 Nm |
After modification, the BiTurbo engine develops power linearly, without sudden jumps, and the torque remains stable throughout the entire rev range.
The throttle response is noticeably better, and the car gains speed more quickly when overtaking, while maintaining factory-standard driving comfort.

This allows tuners to be sure that each file operates stably and does not exceed safe torque or boost pressure limits.
FAQ – frequently asked questions
Is Stage 1 for 2.0 BiTurbo safe?
Yes. The modification maintains safe torque and exhaust gas temperature values. It does not negatively impact the turbo or DPF.
Does fuel consumption change after tuning?
When driving calmly, it can be reduced by 0.3–0.5 l/100 km – thanks to higher torque at lower revs.
Is it possible to order a file for EDC17CP47 ECU?
Yes, files for Bosch EDC17CP47 controllers are available in our B2B panel for tuners.
Does the DPF stay active?
Yes – DPF and EGR remain active unless the customer wishes to disable them.
